Most of the things around us are mixtures, like the air, the ocean, lemonade, and a salad!
The students of third of Primary have been experimenting in their Science classes with mixtures, deciding which are homogeneous and which are heterogeneous.
To carry out the experiments, they had to investigate whether the substances or ingredients of the mixture could easily be separated (heterogeneous mixtures) or whether they couldn’t (homogeneous mixtures).
By answering investigative questions such as what happens when we try to separate the ingredients... the students were able to apply a scientific inquiry process and perform an experiment that enabled them to compare and contrast homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures.
